So why dress up? Here are 25 good reasons.

So why dress up? Here are 25 good reasons.

Because life’s too short to blend in. Don’t settle for average.

Because you’re only young once. You’re way more gorgeous than you know & have a fabulous body you’ll one day look back on and wish you had! Take advantage now and show off how fabulous you can be.

Because fashion is a method of self expression. What are you trying to say?

Because you never know who you’ll run into. Brad Pitt at the grocery store? Hey, stranger things have happened.

Because it obviously annoys some people (like the guy who asks why YOU are so dressed up). The fact that it annoys them so much is all the more reason to keep doing it.

Because you never know, there’s always a chance you could get snapped by Katwalk Divaz

Because you deserve to look your best at all times.

Because you’ll never improve your sense of style if your default look is “I give up”. Yes, that was a Seinfeld reference. But it’s true!

Because dressing up helps you weed out friends who don’t love you for you. If they have a problem with the way you dress, they’re not the kind of friends you want around.

Because cute clothes and accessories are a great conversation starter. Wear something fabulous and people will ask you where you got it.

Because parties aren’t the only time to celebrate.

Because that fabulous party dress in your closet cost too much to only be worn once. Remember cost per wear?

Because it’s fun!

Because even if you live in an “unstylish” city & are scared to dress up, cities don’t become stylish without someone going first. I know it sounds cheesy, but be the change you want to see in the world. Everyone else can follow your fabulous lead.

Because dressing up helps you make fashion mistakes and get past them. Mistakes happen to everyone and that’s how you learn what not to do – get them out of the way now!

Because it’s a test of your confidence. Dressing unconventionally forces you to develop the self-assurance necessary to stand out from everyone else.

Because fashion is one of the rare instances where art comes alive. What artistic statement do you want to make?

Because if you’ve got it (great style, killer confidence, amazing legs), it’s just wrong not to flaunt it.

Because someday when you have a 9-5 corporate job and are required to wear business suits, you’re going to miss the freedom of dress you had in college. Experiment now! There’s no better time.

Because glamour isn’t only reserved for the rich and famous, even though maybe they’d like you to believe it is.

Because if conspiracy theorists are to be believed, the world might end on 12/31/2012 – that’s only 1211 days from now! Even though we all worried about Y2K too, why not be on the safe side? Don’t spend the theoretical 1211 days you have left in sweats.

Because Carrie Bradshaw would not approve of your sweatpants and UGG boots. You can do better than that. And deep down, you know I’m right.

Because dressing well means you don’t have to do your hair at all – you’ll have that ultra fabulous, slightly disheveled Kate Moss look.

Because nothing beats the rush you feel when you look in the mirror and LOVE what you see.

Because you want to. That’s the only reason that matters.

Why do YOU dress up?

What do you think? Do you make an effort to dress up every day? What inspires you to put effort into your look? Tell me what you think by leaving a comment.

This upcoming fall season has my craft-tastic radar working on overload. It’s clear there are some front-runners for fabulous and easy updates inspired by my design crushes. Anyone who can tie a bow, handle a glue gun, owns a trusty pair of scissors, and has a hotel sewing kit can tackle these easy projects which will help you feel fresh for fall. Bows, chunky chains, and fierce fur are three severely coveted trends that are screaming to be reinvented and recreated. P.S.- get involved.

BOWS: The ultra femme topper has a new twist. Whether you have a dainty date or a fall fete, there’s no reason you shouldn’t tie one on. For a refined stem, opt for multiple thin bows, a la Louis Vuitton. Tie thin patent bows around your heels in a contrasting color. Space accordingly. For a bolder bow, take note of Tory Burch’s oversized edition. Tory’s Oxford lass gets flirty this season with a modern take the classic bow. To create this look, reach for an ultra wide ribbon or a scarf to tie around your neck in a bow. Let the ends hang freely and get creative with all colors and patterns.

CHUNKY CHAINS: Expect the unexpected. Experimenting with jewelry is a must, especially in the name of chain. Get inspired by YSL’s metallic choker, and create a version of your own. Purchase plastic chain at any bead or trim store. No pliers necessary, the chain will snap together. Use silver metallic paint to cover chain with a foam paint brush, adding dark details with black nail polish on edges. For the luxe bohemian lady, look to Marni’s crocheted jewels. Braid, weave, and knot colorful yarn through chains links, creating vivid rows and patterns. Keep in mind, messy is the new clean- so have fun with it. PS- for the more experienced crafter, feel free to take to your knitting needles and have at it.

FIERCE FUR: Fur trim is getting wider and wider, and so are our eyes. Impossible to look away, the rich texture screams to be noticed in the most elegant way. This trend can be from your head down to your toes. Adding a hint of fur to any look for fall and winter is a #winning in my book. Oscar de la Renta’s woman hails from the land of Chicistan and rocks the fur halo. Reach for faux-fur material (available a most fabric stores), and adhere a wide piece around an ear warmer using safety pins for a needle and thread. Donna Karan’s fur trimmed boots are another lust-have. Update a pair of black boots by adding wide fax-fur trim at the top. Pin or stitch fur to a high pair of thick socks (make sure they are taller than your boots, and simply slip on before wearing the boots. This creates an illusion furry boot, without really piercing your boots.

Inside Kim Kardashian’s Last-Minute Dress Fitting in New York

Inside Kim Kardashian’s Last-Minute Dress Fitting in New York

Fame

Kim Kardashian is bound to get some high-end home goods for her wedding — and a more-than-sufficient supply of frequent flyer miles.

With her wedding just more than a week away, the bride-to-be says she’s feeling “really calm,” despite a New York minute-style trip to the Big Apple for a wedding dress fitting with gown designer Vera Wang.

“I took the red-eye at midnight, landed at eight in the morning in New York, ran to Vera Wang for a dress fitting at 10 a.m., and then left at noon on another flight out,” the reality star told reporters Wednesday at the Hollywood launch party for World’s Most Beautiful magazine, in which she graces the cover in 3-D. “So I was literally in for an hour, back out. I spent like 11 hours on a plane just to spend three hours in New York.” But “it was so worth it,” she added of her whirlwind trip.

And with her big day, Aug. 20, approaching, her wedding-planning woes are behind her. “Everyone says that you freak out,” she said, “but I think my freak-out moments kind of happened at the beginning when we decided to get married this summer.”
